Before choosing a system, you need to determine how and where you are going to use it. If young children will be using the system, consider an adjustable basketball goal. Most adjustable systems range from 7-10 feet. As the children get older, you can easily adjust the height of the hoop. Most new systems can be adjusted by hand. If portability of the system is important, review hoops that are designed to be portable. These units include a base with wheels, backboard, pole and rim. The base can be filled with water or sand for stability. Portable hoops are not as stable as in ground systems. They are suitable for recreational players. In ground systems are cemented in a hole. They require more work to install, but are more stable. Semi permanent systems allow the basket to be mounted on the side of the garage or house. They generally include a backboard, rim, net and mounting kit.
